Well seeing’s how the cops shut down our release party Thursday night mid set for Kim and the Created, we’ll have to rock again today for the release of our 11th book.
What Youth Issue 11 is on sale today and you can buy it now!
And we must say, it was kicking and screaming to be released all weekend after Thursday night’s false start. This issue is our biggest adventure yet. We throw some really wild people, sounds, design and photography at you in this one. We got David Carson to dial up and design a cover over a Charles Peterson photo from Endfest in Kitsap Washington taken in 1991. David and Charles are both people you should look up. But you’ll also find their wise words throughout the new issue.
Beyond that we talk with photographer Darren Ankenman. We wrote the “last thing we’ll ever write about Kolohe Andino.” We talk to Mark Healey. Flea. Show you a different side of Nate Lawrence. And Warren Smith makes Bali his canvas and showes it in a new way.
It’s something your coffee table deserves more than your heels. We hope you like it and it can provide you a few hours outside your phone.
Take a little tour through it above.

What Youth - Magazine - Issue 12
We’ve got a new reason to celebrate: our 12th issue is out today and you can buy it right now, right here.
And why would you do that? Well, how can you deny that Polaroid of Gonz on the cover? Photographed by Mark Oblow in Hawaii, Circa 1989. That photo just made us feel right. And we thought it was the best frame for all the wild shit going on once you dive inside.
With a cast of characters ranging from Mikey Wright to Langley Fox to Craig Anderson to Bryan Fox to an even closer look at Volcom’s new film Psychic Migrations, this might be our most eclectic issue to date. And that’s saying a lot because we’ve crammed together some weird shit. It’s the type of book that proves, in a world gone mad, that we’re still a little more far gone than the rest.

What Youth - Magazine - Issue 13
What Youth Issue 13 is out now. Featuring This is Us: North, Anonymous Zone (Japan), Julian Wilson, William Strobeck, Bruce Irons, The Return to Trash, Rip Zinger, Dylan Rieder and Leo Romero.
Every once in a while the flurry of dust and mud and granite and soot and ash that make up the world we tread around on can really make a lot of sense. And it’s by that stroke of grace and timing that we find Bruce Irons on the cover of our 13th issue.
What’s been a few dormant years for B.I. has turned into a whirlwind that sees him with a new sponsor, a new vibe, a new outlook, a new part in John John’s movie, a spot in the Eddie, and no doubt a strong showing in today’s Da Hui Backdoor Shootout. It’s one we’re very proud of and one we’re really proud to see Bruce on page 1.
After you get into it, the chaos and fun that always takes place inside a What Youth book begins, and you’ll meet and see people like Leo Romero, Julian Wilson, Tracy Bryant, William Strobeck and Rip Zinger.
Dylan Rieder curated the Notes from the Underground and we took two trips: one to go surfing in the city of San Francisco with Yago Dora, Andrew Doheny, Dillon Perillo and Brendon Gibbens. As well as a trip to go skateboarding in Japan with Ishod Wair, Kevin Terpening, Peter Ramondetta and Raven Tershy, all photographed by Arto Saari.

What Youth Magazine Issue 16 is here. It is dedicated to Dylan Rieder.
From What Youth - « This one means a lot. After learning that we lost Dylan to his fight with leukemia last month, we immediately shelved all in-progress plans for Issue 16, got with Mark Oblow and discussed creating something special and memorable for one of the most influential people we’ve ever met.
Thanks to the unending support and help of Mark Oblow and his Back Den archive, we gathered photography, stories, original art and tributes to Dylan from a variety of contributors and close friends including Arto Saari, Ryan Allan, Langley Fox, Mark Gonzales, Jason Dill, William Strobeck, Alex Olson, Camille Rowe, Natas Kaupas, Cat Power, Dion Agius, Noa Deane, Stefan Janoski, Porous Walker, Greg Hunt, Doctor Woo and many, many more.
100 percent of the net proceeds will be donated directly to The Dylan Rieder Foundation
